We essentially digitally re-master the book. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.įor printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching.
Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.įor PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. I wouldn't say they "know for sure", but they would be an excellent first guess or probably be able to guide those seeking the truth towards Lytek or the Maiden. These products were created by scanning an original printed edition.
My stand on Gem Lords is that no knowledge of/within Creation is beyond their potential knowing. After all, they knew the untainted Solars that most spirit don't even know ever existed. Since they were there before, during and "after" the Curse and that they share telepathic knowledge with all Earth Elementals it is fairly reasonable to assume that they(or at least some of them) are aware of its existence. The Gem Lords are known to hold many of the "forgotten" secrets of Creation (7 Lore). My point was just referencing to the fact that Elementals are ALL shards of their former larger entity and some of them possess among the oldest knowledge of creation, including the Primordial War. The first one because of shame, the second by nature/function. (mostly resonance exists to kill your puppy)Īlchemicals never had it but instead have clarity (which is different for a variety of reasons and can be beneficial if managed properly, but basically is "heart of flint")Īctually, as per Canon, Lytek and the Maiden of Secrets are known to be hiding their knowledge of the Curse. Shortterm is contagious solar limitbreak but applied also to people you care about, except cecelene who does direct damageĪbyssals don't have it anymore, but give off underworld scented farts with a similar mechanic Infernals had theirs twisted to become torment which seems much less of a burden and with far fewer longterm effects(while the immediate flareups are greater, longterm sounds like it's just a bit of optional pavlov conditioning to act like a cartoon villain as you learn to manage it safely, none of that "greater more subtle aspects that doesn't happen in gameplay's timescale" like solars, lunars and siderals get) short term is some relatively mild virtueflaw/element combination that mostly just seems like your character is throwing a fit all on their own short term is basically solar limitbreak, but fluffed to also draw on vaguely werewolf-y themes (lunars think this is natural though)ĭragonbloods have a watered down version that just nudges them towards being shitty dynast caricatures(think hbo series) with a side order of elemental stereotypes
Lunars forget their shape and become chimeras and also have a watered down version of what solars get (you know.the kind of thing that makes what elder lunars get up to seem like a good idea)(since tattoos can't be allowed to remove the curse) iirc they don't have a short term curse, but have backlash from abusing the spiders or get audited by coworkers Siderals become corrupt caricatures of bureaucrats and toxic office politics(heaven is shitty for a reason) short term is virtue flaws, things like achilles sulking in his tent or hercules flying into a rage and accidentally murdering his family
(with additional long term twisting that makes something like "I'll use eugenics and necromancy and other unspecified crimes against humanity worse than anything swlihn ever did to breed the tenganese into being docile and happy" seem like a good idea) their great curse was 'fastest' and most obvious (which led to them being put down for the greater good at the end of the first age) Solars go nuts and become "hubris/epic hero" type caricatures
